Mulch
Each fall, our borough collects leaves, and then in the spring they offer leaf mulch for sale. The smallest unit is a cubic yard, I think, which is a ton! Last time we got some, the pile lived in our driveway for about 2 years before we managed to get it all used. Well, we bit the bullet and got another delivery this year. We have mulched almost everything possible already, and there's still more than half of it left. I'm not sure what we're going to do with it all...

Is it pretty dirt like, or are there bits of interest in it? We had a load of wood chips delivered from a tree trimming co a couple summers ago--it sat in our driveway quite awhile. Anyway, we found some of it sank down as the summer wore on, so we were able to re-apply around trees and such. It looked pretty nice around here for a while!
It's pretty much dirt, though we find some bits of plastic bags, sticks, etc. in there too. It makes the beds look really nicely tended, but there's just so much of it!
We had a load of wood chips some years ago - friends had received a whole truckload, and they wanted to share! We put those around the climbing structure in our backyard, though the chips were pretty unevenly sized, so they weren't as good as the nice playground ones. They eventually all decomposed... no sign of them anymore.
