YA fairy books
The NY Times included their special section on children's books in the Sunday review this weekend. I was especially taken with this article that looked at the spate of fairy-themed YA books, many of which we (well, I) have read recently without really noticing that it seems to be a trend.

Thanks J for passing on this article. I now have some more books to add to my "to read" list. I've been a fan of the fairy genre ever since "War for the Oaks" and few have done it better than Emma Bull (the Joss Whedon of urban fantasy).
Thanks for sharing such a good article! I have read a couple of these titles and really loved the article's description of Laurel's transformation in "Wings"--not only was she sprouting wings, but she was a plant!
It does seem like there is a bit of a move from these darker vamp and werewolf characters, as authors try to indivualize their owns stories. I think we're the winners here!

On a sidenote, have we mentioned the whole Disney trying to option Wings for Miley?
I hadn't heard that. I just got Wings out of the library and was planning on reading it next.
I'm excited about the Percy Jackson movie. We're reading "Lightning Thief" out loud with the boys right now. Tim's not quite up to tackling it himself, but he loves the story (although some parts have been a little scary as he's trying to go to sleep).
I know, we're excited for the PJ movie and I saw a trailer for a few months ago! Would be a fun one to read aloud.
