Newbery 2010

When You Reach Me won the Newbery Medal! I'm very happy that Rebecca Stead received this honor for her wonderful book. I'm also pleased that the award validates one of my top-10 picks.

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, another recent read that I really enjoyed, won a Newbery Honor (runner-up) award, too!

You beat me to it, JNJ! I'm so excited to have already read this and have it slated as a Feb. bday gift to a favorite youngster! Did you see that Going Bovine won the Printz?
Tate is slowly moving up the library reserve list! I'll get to it relatively soon, it seems!

I hadn't seen that - thanks! One of the runners-up looked very interesting, too. I always get a lot of to-read suggestions from looking at these lists.

Much better than the Pennsylvania Young Reader’s Choice Awards Program where there are lists that are voted upon by kids. The books in each age range seem a little off, and the quality isn't always great.

I have to say that I'm enjoying books supposedly for "young adults" more consistantly than those for adult readers. Hmmmm.

I'm going to try to get to both Going Bovine and this one in the next month or two.
