How to read a good book

Question for you -- when you're reading a book you know is going to be excellent, do you:
1) read it as fast as you can
2) read it slowly so as to savor every word?

I just finished another Laurie King book.... I LOVE those books, so save them to read when I know I'll have long stretches of uninterrupted time. I almost hate to read them because then I won't have a new one to read for a long time. They are the kind of books you know you'll be incredibly sad to finish because you'll miss it. So, I'm torn between reading it as fast as I can because I love it, or purposely reading slowly....to linger over the story, the words, the characters....

I know what you mean! It helps if it's really long, like the last HP book! I find I do try to slow down so I can savor it, but it doesn't always work! Ususally, I get too wrapped up in it and just start flying along!
Glad you enjoyed the new King book! I know how much you like them! :)

I'm a bit torn too . . . gulp it all down as quickly as possible but at the same time, savor it. I hate getting to the end of certain books. The world they've created is just so interesting and/or appealing, that you don't want to leave.

I tend to read it as fast as I can, unless interrupted. Meaning that I can't help myself from zipping through the book!!

When I was younger, I'd tear through a book and then turn back to the beginning and re-read it slowly. Now I don't have the time to read through something twice like that, so I just do the tearing-through version and then I'm sad that I'm through so quickly...

I read a wonderful book VERY VERY SLOW. An example is my current read The Bells, Harvell. It's so good and it has been one week and still reading --so good

I tend to read them as fast as I can. I don't seem to be able to put them down.
