Hobbled Runner beats me to it

Once again, the Hobbled Runner beats me to a post. Granted, he took this picture, so I guess he can post it first!

It's true... there are tomatoes growing right by my roses. And I did go a bit crazy and have way too many tomato plants. So, these are in pots out in front.

Any good answers to his question of why the edible stuff has to be in back??

I can't believe you already have tomatoes that large on them! They look great!

I've had edibles in the front ever since we moved here! We have retaining wall beds that run down the driveway, and I've always done veggies in there. The front one at the end by the mailbox, I admit, always has flowers!

It's worked well for us and that's what's important. I feel it has kept some of the deer at bay over the years and was always a conversation starter when people were pick up their kids and such.

Our neighbors (with whom we share a driveway) have a really nice, sunny bed out front, but they're not gardeners at all, so they have let us take it over. We started with tulips a few years ago, and since then we put in a bunch of irises, rose bushes, and perennials. Eric's next plan is to put in a bunch of asparagus...

There's a gorgeous house near us that has grape trellises in their front yard, and they have a home winery.

Another house I walk by has nice, professional-looking landscaping, including some tomato plants tucked behind an ornamental bush.

No need to keep the edibles in back!
