So, what did you buy with your high school graduation money? I'm rather embarrassed to admit, but I bought a Walkman. Pretty cool for 1983, huh? It served me well at Carleton.... especially late at night.

I got an electronic typewriter. Remember, they were the be all end all compared to regular electric typewriters. It too, served me well at Carleton. I even typed a couple comp papers for money on it as a freshman.
Yep, I got a typewriter too. It was the traditional present in my family, as a preparation for college. My brother and sister still point out how spoiled I was because mine was electric, but they each got a manual typewriter. (I point out that this is because they graduated in the stone age.)
